People’s Expo

Food Smart Cities for Development

People’s Expo is the international forum of the civil society and farmers’ movements  held in Milan, at the Fabbrica del Vapore, from 3rd to 5th June 2015, to respond to the Expo 2015 “Feeding the Planet” challenge, by implementing the principles of food sovereignty and environmental justice.
The organizing committee was formed by over 50 Italian non-profit organizations that have signed a Manifesto proposing solutions to promote the recognition of the right to  food and a fair and sustainable use of natural resources.
The most important goal of the People’s Expo was to let the people’s voice be heard: 150 delegates and 14 international networks  from the five continents took part in the forum which represented an important opportunity to engage civil society in Milan towards the the UN summit on Post-2015 Development Agenda and the COP 21 conference on  Climate Change.
